Hi Everyone...I wanted to get a discussion going so here is the Topic.
How are your Brides cutting back on their weddings to save money in our economic crisis?

Being in rental we've have a lot of calls from brides wanting to do the planning themselves - checking out what it would cost to have the wedding at home in the backyard!

Hi Terry,
Backyard weddings are becoming popular again, along with cutting that guest list down in order to fit your guest into the backyard. Also, parks are a great place as long as there are some shelter houses available in case of rain. I would imagine that the rental business picks up during peak wedding months. What kind of trends are you seeing in your area as far as theme colors and decor?

We're not very involved in decor - more with supplying the basic items like tables, chairs, tents, flooring, lighting, linen (we carry a limited variety of colors) - quite often they haven't even defined the theme or color when they call us. They're either doing decor themselves or have hired someone specializing in that. How about you?

Anymore I think they are going for cheap elegance as I like to call it. If they or I can make it it is a done deal, but in the long run looks wonderful. Color Themes I am seeing right now is Burnt orange & Blues,
Victorian Lilac and Silver, Black, White and Aqua blue, Black White and Red. Nothing to off the wall here.

Several of my brides have scaled down their centerpieces/bouquets, decreased their lighting, cut their guests lists, open bars have been cut to beer and wine only. I have had some want to negotiate my services and try to handle some of the wedding planning and designing themselves.

I love it when brides or their famlies want to handle some of the coordination themselves, I just wish they would inform the Planner of changes. I have brides that are going with one flower or the bridal party with one that cuts the floral costs way down (not so good for florist) I also have brides choosing the real silks now and they do make a wonderful looking bouquet, some if you do not touch it you would never know.

Hello Everyone. . .
I'm looking for some advice if anyone can help :) I'm working on design concepts for a graduation party I'm planning. They are doing a music/theatre theme which is pretty simple, but I wanted to do a red carpet entrance with stantions. Finding a red runner was easy, but I can't seem to find any decorative stantions, and real ones would definitely not be in their budget as they are a little pricy. Any ideas?? Has anyone bought or rented them from somewhere before?

Hi Events by Monroe,
Great idea for a Party, try using what I call a tulle holder. I got mine from Saveoncrafts.com they are heavy and have a hook that would work great. They aren't priced bad either and you can always use them for any event. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
