The date 11/11/11 only comes around once in one hundred years and is quickly approaching. Some say this is a lucky date and judging by the number of brides set to say “I Do”, this proves to be true. According to David’s Bridal, the nation’s largest bridal retailer with more than 300 stores, approximately 57,000 couples will marry on 11/11/11. Of these brides tying the knot, David’s Bridal will be dressing over 21,000 of them.

Brides far and wide across the country have chosen 11/11/11 as their wedding date. Los Angeles ranks number one with 718 brides registered with David’s Bridal. Other top cities following suit include Chicago at 572 brides, Miami at 560 brides, New York at 507 brides, Dallas at 461 brides and Houston at 411 brides.

To make 11/11/11 the perfect wedding date, some brides have been preparing far in advance while others are waiting until the 11th hour. According to David’s Bridal, nine percent of brides have chosen their dress more than 20 months before the date while eleven percent waited to purchase their dress only two months before their Big Day.

While for many the dress is the main focal point of a wedding, brides are also preparing far ahead because of the higher demand for venues, florists and photographers. On this day alone, there will be approximately 570,000 feet of aisle runner fabric, 114,000 rings exchanged and 57,000 bouquets thrown.

“Eleven is known as a lucky number when it comes to love and life,” says Gia Allen, a Philadelphia-based bride getting married in a David’s Bridal gown on 11/11/11. “While it may have taken a little extra planning on our part to make this special day happen, it will absolutely be worth it!”
