A recent trip to Bethesda, Maryland landed me on the doorstep of WeddingWire corporate headquarters -whose awesome bridal footprint spans three amazing suites in the office building.
Kate Hoffman, WeddingWire Public Relations Director, welcomed me and I proceeded to take a tour, catching a glimpse of the offices personalized with college banners, cartoon portraits of employees, and “Flashlight” the WeddingWire mascot guinea pig.
The Tim Tebow Fathead that was placed outside one employee’s office was a gift by Tim the CEO of WeddingWire.
Employees rule at WeddingWire and the unique company culture shows it. WeddingWire has social events and mixers where everyone is encouraged to get to know – and like- one another. If employees happen to be working remote, then there will likely be an event that lets them connect with each other-with virtual games for team building or just simple meet-and-greet mixers. Employees enjoy a free hot breakfast 3 times a week, and it is quite common for dogs to report to work with their best friends. Ping pong tournaments are big at WeddingWire and there is a designated area for the highly celebrated events.
Employees may wear t-shirts and shorts to work and are given unlimited vacation days. Tracking time isn’t practiced at WeddingWire, as employees take the time off they need and don’t abuse the privilege. The bottom line is that WeddingWire treats their 140 employees with respect and is confident that they will get the job done. While the majority of WeddingWire employees are in Bethesda, some are located in Denver, Boston and Chicago. Employees who started with WeddingWire from day one, but had to relocate for personal reasons are able to remain employed, working remotely.
With monthly webinar hosting and networking events for wedding professionals in more than 30 markets, the company that started out of a garage is now celebrating their 5th anniversary! Among the additions to the WeddingWire brand this year are event planning sites EventWire, BirthdayWire, and PromWire. And, on July 23rd, 2012 the very first WeddingWire World user conference will launch. Will you be attending?
