This is the Transcript of the #WeddingMarket Chat on March 20th, 2013 with Grace Ormonde  from Wedding Style. The answers were made on Twitter so responses will appear different.

Grace

Grace Ormonde has built an enviable reputation in the wedding industry for creating the platforms for wedding specialists to showcase their products and services while offering prospective brides and grooms a multitude of choices, ideas and alternatives for planning their wedding.
Grace Ormonde Wedding Style magazine was first published as a regional New England wedding planning resource in 1998. After five regional issues, Wedding Style launched nationally in 2003. The national launch of Grace Ormonde Wedding Style created the demand for a regional New England replacement that resulted in the creation and launch of the sister publication Grace Ormonde New England in 2003.

Q1: How did you get involved with the wedding industry?

A1: My involvement came by accidentally. I had a friend who was getting married,
but was having extreme difficulty finding suitable wedding vendors. When the
dust settled, I found to have enjoyed the romance of working in the wedding
industry.

Q2: How did you get involved with publishing wedding magazines?

A2: To make a long story short, I also got involved accidentally. I helped a friend
design a program for a show she hosted. The staff and attendees thought it
was a magazine. With everybody’s glowing support, I decided to match my two
newfound interests and create a wedding magazine.

Q3: What are the best ways to submit weddings to magazine editors?

A3: We are in the process of having the system revamped, but chose to use Dropbox
as our makeshift medium for submission. Full details can be found here.

Q4: Are photographers the only ones that can submit the weddings?

A4: Most definitely not. In fact, our submissions come from a variety of sources
including mothers of brides.

Q5: What types of information should be submitted?

A5: We require a number of items. This includes wedding date, location, list of
vendors and so forth. Most importantly, I like to read the couples’ stories. Of
course, beautiful imagery that articulates the couples’ love is equally important.

Q6: What types of weddings are you looking for?

A6: Wedding Style Magazine caters to affluent prospects. Therefore, we look for
luxury weddings. However, there isn’t a specific spectrum as a prerequisite.

Q7:  How does wedding companies submit their weddings to you?

A7: As of right now, it is the same way as anyone would. http://bit.ly/wsm-submit

Q8:  What types of pictures are preferred?

A8: It goes without saying that high quality of photography is required. However, there isn’t a direct formula for my selection process. The photos need to be able to tell a story.
And that story needs to evoke an emotional response in my heart. It’s difficult to put it into words, except that I need to be smitten with the love the couple shares for each other.

Q9: Do you only publish advertisers?

A9: In short, no. I publish luxurious weddings that appeal to my heart. However,
many of my Platinum List members only work in the luxury industry. Therefore,
it’s not uncommon for them to be familiar names in my magazine.

Q10: How are companies placed on Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style Platinum List ?

A10: If there is availability, because the list is limited by region, the selection begins
with a referral by another Platinum List vendor. There are other criteria, but it is
summed up with superior service and luxury expertise.

Q11: Can you tell me a little bit about your book Being in Love Never Goes Out of Style?

A11: My intentions for the book are twofold. First, I created the book as a tribute to all of
the vendors who shared my vision of celebrating love. Second, I wanted to give brides a
resource that was more comprehensive. Each of my magazines has a focus. For example,
most recently, I focused on diamonds. Without having to sacrifice content due to limited pages, Being in Love Never Goes Out of Style embraces a wider perspective.

Q12: Any exciting new project or events coming up?

A12: There are always events coming up – too many to list. I treat each of them with
equal excitement.

Q13: What would you like everyone to take away from this #WeddingMarket Chat ?

A13: Stay inspired. Take chances. Love always.
